Fourteen-year-old batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi is in India’s Under-19 team for this summer’s tour of England.
He made news in April by becoming the youngest player to score a century in a men’s T20 game. He scored 101 runs from 38 balls. Rajasthan Royals won by eight wickets against Gujarat Titans.
His 101 runs had seven fours and eleven sixes. It was the second fastest hundred in the Indian Premier League. It was also the fastest by an Indian player. He made the hundred in 35 balls.
So far, Suryavanshi has scored 252 runs in seven matches for the Royals. His strike rate is 206.55. He also scored a 58-ball hundred in a youth Test match against Australia.
Seventeen-year-old Ayush Mhatre from Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai will captain the team. He also hit a fast IPL half-century recently.
The series starts in Hove on June 27. It has five youth ODIs and two multi-day matches in Beckenham and Chelmsford.
