Norrie, 29, showed his skill with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-1), 6-2 win. He beat Fearnley, 23, who passed him as British number two earlier this year.
Loud bangs were heard during most of the match. PSG fans were getting ready for their team’s big game against Inter Milan in Munich.
“It was hard with the fireworks next door. That was the toughest part for both of us,” said Norrie. He is now ranked 81st in the world.
Norrie played very well, after two tough years. His skill and calm helped him beat fellow Brit Fearnley.
Fearnley, ranked 55th, was playing his first French Open. He seemed to get hurt in the second set.
He made a double fault on match point. That gave Norrie the win and a spot in the last 16 of the French Open.
Next, Norrie might play Novak Djokovic, a former world number one.
It was the first time Norrie and Fearnley met in an ATP match. They hugged after their three-hour match, which was full of noise.
Almost 50,000 fans came to Parc des Princes, right near the tennis courts. They were there to watch the football match on big screens.
At one point, Norrie had to stop his serve because of the noise. He was ahead 4-1 in the second-set tie-break but stayed calm and won.
There were fireworks, car horns, and sirens during the first two sets. It got quieter in the third set as the football match was about to start.
Norrie played well and won with ease.
“I feel great,” he said. “It was a tough match. Jacob has had a great year and a big rise in tennis.”
