Singer Tom Grennan honored the victims of the 1989 Hillsborough disaster during his show at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Liverpool on Friday.

The Little Bit of Love singer was joined on stage by Mel C from the Spice Girls.

Mel C wore a Liverpool FC shirt with the number nine on the back. Tom wore an Everton shirt with the number seven.

They stood side by side to make the number 97. This was to honor the 97 Liverpool fans who died at the 1989 FA Cup semi-final.

Tom told the crowd, "Liverpool is her home, so make some noise when I say her name."

Mel C sang her 1998 hit When You're Gone. This song was first sung with Bryan Adams.

Tom took a moment to talk about bringing the city together.

Before his show, Tom told BBC Newsbeat he felt great about "headlining the biggest weekend of the summer."

He said, "It's been a wild journey."

Tom also spoke about working with Mel C. He called her "a superstar."

"I have been friends with Mel for a while," he said. "I thought we should do something special."

He added, "Thank God she said yes."
