Harvard Sues Trump Administration Over International Student Visa Ban

Harvard Sues Trump Administration Over International Student Visa Ban

Harvard is suing the Trump administration. The government stopped Harvard from enrolling international students. This made a fight bigger between the White House and one of the top schools in the US.

The university said the government broke the law. This was in a court case filed in Boston.

A day before, the Department of Homeland Security said it would take away Harvard’s access to student visa programs.

The Trump team said Harvard did not do enough to stop hate against Jewish people. They also said Harvard must change how it hires staff and picks students. Harvard said these claims are not true.

Harvard’s President, Alan Garber, said in a letter, “We condemn this wrong and unfair act.”

He added, “This is one more move by the government to punish Harvard. They want us to give up our freedom in teaching and running the school. They want control over what we teach, who works here, and which students come.”

Harvard will also ask for a court order to stop the government’s action for now.
