Joe Biden has prostate cancer. His office announced he found out last Friday after seeing a doctor for trouble peeing.
Some doctors were shocked to learn the cancer is serious and has spread to his bones. They wonder why it wasn’t discovered sooner.
Other doctors say this can happen. Some cancers grow fast without any signs. Men over 70 are often not tested.
Donald Trump spoke on Monday. He said Biden should have informed the public sooner. He provided no proof but suggested the news might have been hidden.
“It is very sad,” Trump said. “The cancer could have grown for years. I feel bad about it. People should ask what really happened.”
Biden has not responded to Trump’s comments. Reports claim his staff may have concealed his health issues before the 2024 election.
Some Republicans argue Biden is too old and weak to be president. He dropped out of the race after a poor debate with Trump.
A new book claims Biden's health worsened in his last year. He forgot names and faces, even failing to recognize George Clooney.
The book mentions Biden’s slow walk. Some wanted to use a wheelchair, but only after the election.
This book raised questions. Why didn’t Democrats act sooner? Senator Chris Murphy said they should have listened to voters.
Vice President JD Vance expressed hope for Biden’s recovery. But he questioned if doctors kept the truth from the public. “This job is serious,” he said. “If you are not healthy enough, you should not do it.”
Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel stated Biden likely had cancer for a long time. “He had it while he was president. Maybe even in 2021,” he said.
Men over 70 often aren't tested. Their prostate cancer can grow slowly. The risks of testing might outweigh the cancer's harm.
In 2019, Biden’s team said he had prostate issues but no cancer. They stated he received treatment and was fine.
Now, people wonder if Biden was tested during his presidency. Why was the cancer discovered so late?
Dr. Chris George commented, “I think he had full checkups. It’s hard to believe no test found this sooner.”
However, Dr. Robert Figlin warned that fast-growing cancer is not rare. He advised against jumping to blame.
Prostate cancer is common. It is the second most common cancer among men.
The CDC reports that 13 out of 100 men will develop prostate cancer. Two or three will die from it.
