School Bus Bombing in Pakistan Sparks Tensions with India

Balochistan, Pakistan – A bomb hit a school bus in Khuzdar on Wednesday morning at 7:40 local time. About 40 students were on board. Six children were killed. Dozens were hurt. Two more died later, bringing the total to eight.

Nasir Mehmood, a Pakistani army officer, rushed to the hospital after hearing the news. His 14-year-old son, Mohammad Ahmad, was on the bus. "When I heard the attack happened, the ground fell from beneath my feet," he said. At the hospital, he could only hear children screaming. He kept looking for his son.

Only the worst-injured children were flown to the army hospital in Quetta. Some had burns, broken bones, or were in shock. One girl kept calling for her mother.

No group has said they did the attack. But Pakistan blames India. India denies this.

The attack came just after a two-week fight between India and Pakistan. It was their worst conflict in years. Drones, missiles, and guns were used. Dozens of people died. A ceasefire is now in place, but tensions remain high.

Pakistan says it has proof of Indian links to attacks in Balochistan. But it has not shared clear evidence. India says Pakistan supports militants in Kashmir.

In April, 26 people were killed in an attack in Pahalgam, India. Most were tourists. India blames Pakistan for that attack.

Balochistan has faced violence for years. Some local groups fight the government. They say the state takes their land and gas without giving anything back. One group, the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), killed 21 people in March during a train attack.

The BLA is listed as a terrorist group by Pakistan, the US, and the UK.

At the hospital, foreign reporters were allowed in for the first time. The army wanted the world to see the effects of the bombing. Photos of backpacks, shoes, and broken metal have spread online.

A Pakistani general said the bombing was not about Baloch issues. He called it an Indian act. Pakistan’s government says it will raise the case globally.

The attack may affect peace talks between the two countries. What happens next is unclear.
